Chapter Eight

Ashtavakra said:

1.  It is bondage when the mind desires anything, when it grieves over anything, when it accepts, rejects, or feels joy or anger in relation to anything whatsoever.

2.  It is release when the mind neither desires nor grieves, is neither angry nor joyful, neither accepts nor rejects anything.

3.  It is bondage when the mind is attached to any sense perception. It is liberation when it is not so attached.

4.  Where there is “I” there is bondage, where there is no “I” there is release.  Know this to be the truth, and neither reject nor accept anything.
